Facebook email scam
This is a serious security online threat; recently Facebook was hacked by hackers using internal e-mails to send out spam. Now a new social media fraud use by hackers is sending out regular e-mails to spread malware to unexpected receivers.
McAfee Internet Security Company raises the alarm about this hacking. The company plotted the locations where the hackers are targeting users, across Europe, America, scattered all over South America, parts of Africa, Asia, and even Australia. McAfee estimated that the hackers send out tens of millions of spams.
Here is an example of the e-mail spam, “Dear user of Facebook, new measures have taken to our clients, your password has been changed. You can find your new password in the attached document.”
That is the most disturbing part about this is, if you open that attachment it can download several types of malicious software and can access any username and password combination used on that computer not just your user Facebook account. So how you go against this?
McAfee Facebook email scam tips:
1) Do not open the attachment
2) Delete the e-mail
3) Install security and antivirus software
4) If you already have a security and antivirus software installed, make sure the software is up to date.
Hackers are cracking codes almost as fast as these security companies can write. Make sure you have the latest antivirus software install on your computer.
