Glossiness Texture Map in Photoshop CS4
Glossiness control the brightness of the highlights on a 3D object and the Shininess control the size of the highlights.
Here is how you control the Glossiness on your 3d object:
1. First import your 3D object, select the 3D layer and change the Paint mode to Glossiness. The Glossiness texture map uses only black, white and grays to store information. Do not use colors.

2. Then select your brush, click on the 3D object layer, if you don’t already have a Glossiness texture map, Photoshop will ask you to create one, just click ok.
3. Next, you will notice that Photoshop created a Glossiness texture map with full Glossiness (white). You must use black color paint to remove the Glossiness you don’t want. Or use different value of grays to get different intensity of the Glossiness.
4. If you want to, you can click on the Glossiness texture map and paint directly into it. This will speed up the painting process.
