How to use Ground Plane on 3D objects with Photoshop CS4

Sometime it is hard to tell which way is up or down in 3D space. This is where the Group Plane comes into play. The ground plane is a great visual tool that tells you which way is up or down in a 3D scene.

To activate the Ground Plane, click on the 3D layer and click on the “toggle ground plane” button inside the 3D panel (see image below).

Keep in mind each 3D object has its own ground plane.

On the same location you can also use the “toggle lights” button to view your lights. Next to it is the “create new light”, use this button to add a new point light, spot light or infinite light. At the end there is the trash can for deleting unwanted lights.
